Vintage Aztec God Souvenir Plaque October Xocotl Huetzi Painted Brass Wood Mexico.6"Hx5"WThis is a vintage souvenir plaque from Mexico that features an image of an Aztec god onthe front. The base of the plaque is dark stained wood and the image is painted brass that is mounted on the front. On the back is an explanation of the piece that reads... "October - Xocotl Huetzi - The old mexicans called Xocotl Huetzi to the tenth month of the year. The first day they honored the god of fire Xiuhtecutli or Ixcoazanqui. In this splender party, as many others of the Aztecs, offerings to gods were done, while men and women danced joyfully". The plaque is in like-new condition. The wood base and the brass are in perfect conditions. No discoloration, chips or scratches. I believe it dates from the 1970's and measures about 7" x 8.5". It is about 3/8" thick.
