Sphereotype! Long Hair Civil War Confederate Soldier Wearing Sash Belt, Virginia

Description

Original 1/6 relievo ambrotype of a long-haired soldier, in half of its original case. He's wearing a long belt or maybe even some sort of sash around his waist. Purchased from a seller in Virginia. The heavy brass plate has been placed behind the image, not in front, giving it a very interesting "floating" effect, especially when viewed in person. I believe these were technically referred to as "Sphereotypes". The two pieces of glass are still sealed together.
Ambrotype is in excellent antique condition with no damage. Light spots are visible between the pieces glass when viewed at an angle, but I don't see it when viewing normally.
