    Description

    Original circa 1861 sixth-plate daguerreotype of a young
    soldier wearing a black X patch on his jacket - the patch
    of the 56th New York Volunteer Infantry.
    The daguerreotype is still sealed and appears to be in
    excellent, undamaged condition - the spots are
    all on the
    underside of the glass and can be cleaned off, but I am
    leaving it to the next owner whether
    or not to open up the seals to do so
    .
    Comes in half of its original case.
