CSA- MEASURES 4 3/4" BY 3 1/8" BY 5/8" - VERY GOOD CONDITION - SOME LIGHT WEAR ON THE COVER - BIBLE IS FROM A TIME WHEN GUTCH WAS RAISING A COMPANY OF MARYLANDERS FOR COMPANY G OF THE 2ND MARYLAND CAVALRY CSA - A MORE COMPLETE HISTORY OF THOMAS AND HIS PHOTO WAS FEATURED IN DANIEL HARTZLER'S BOOK - A BAND OF BROTHERS - MARYLANDERS IN THE CONFEDERACY - THOMAS WAS BORN IN BALTIMORE COUNTY AND WAS A MEMBER OF THE HORSE GUARD MILITIA CAVALRY PRIOR TO THE WAR - 1861 HE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST TO CROSS THE POTOMAC AND JOIN A COMPANY OF MARYLANDERS IN THE 7TH VIRGINIA CAV - IN 1863 TOM WAS SEVERELY WOUNDED THREE TIMES- WHEN HE RECOVERED HE STARTED TO RAISE A COMPANY OF MARYLANDERS FOR THE 2ND MARYLAND CAV CSA - THE TIME OF THIS BIBLE IN 1864 - THE COMPANY ENDED UP BEING IN DAVIS' MARYLAND BATTALION - GUTCH WAS CAPTURED ON SEPT 24TH - 1864 AT HARRISONBURG VA AS HE CHARGED FEDERAL CAVALRY - HE WAS IMPRISONED AT FORT McHENRY AND LATER FORT DELAWARE - HE SURVIVED THE WAR AND BEGAN A DAIRY FARMER AND MEMBER OF THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES FOR BALTIMORE COUNTY - MEMBER OF CAMP No 673 OF CONFEDERATE VETERANS - RARE ADDITION TO ANY COLLECTION
