    Description

Offered in this 7-day auction is a c.1840-1860 Naval Ditty Bag w/ Tools.  Heavy canvas bag w/ original drawstring contains a small, sharp hook tool, a punch, and small treen needle case.  All enlisted sailors needed to know or learn skills in maintaining sails, ropes, caulk lines, clothes, and more aboard ship.  These tools would've all been important to those efforts and include a handmade punch or pick (brass thimble cleverly used as a ferrule), a hook with a macrame type handle wrap using a heavy string, and a small treen needle case (no needles).  Great personal maritime set, found in Charleston, South Carolina.
    Bag measures 7 3/4" x 5"
    Needle Case measures 3 1/8"
    Punch measures 5"
    Hook measures 5 1/2"
Thank you for looking! No reserve.
