    Description

*****This auction is for the two Antique brass hooks pictured alone, NOT the ones shown on the straps and does not include the belt or straps or hooks which are shown only for example and reference.*****
The brass hooks would attached to the end of Saber Hangers and Sabre Hanger straps for easy attaching and removal of the Saber or Sword. These are rarely found on the loose but can be seen on antique Civil War and Indian wars Saber belt rigs. (See Pic). They are for FLAT Saber or Sword hanger straps only. These are a prime example of early craftsmanship. Looking like simple brass hooks, the elements comprising the operation of the hooks are incredibly complicated and intricate. The collar mechanism alone required extremely delicate craftsmanship. Measure 2 3/4" long and will take a 15/16" wide flat strap.
There is a brass knurled collar which screws up and down to lock the sword in place. Screwed up to allow the spring to flex and screw it down to keep the spring in place from flexing and accidentally releasing the sword.
