    Description

    Fine antique 19th century c1860s ninth plate ruby Ambrotype depicting an elegant mourning wife in Victorian dress.  She can be seen seated with a sad face and wearing a mourning brooch with an image of her husband on it.  One arm is resting on a cloth covered table as her hands rest on hero lap, one of which is holding a fan.  One can note the painted backdrop in the background which shows clouds and trees.  Image on ruby glass.  Protected under glass in a brass mat and preserver. Comes housed in a fine full Gutta Percha Littlefield Union case.  Provenance comes from a Worcester, Massachusetts area estate.
    Ambrotype in Excellent condition.  Clean and crisp.  Case is in Excellent condition as well with only one very small chip (see photos).
    Measures 2 1/2” x 2” and case measures 3” x 2 1/2” x 7/8” thick.
