  • Condition: The ambrotype is in a very ornate Union, or what is sometimes called a Thermoplastic, or gutta percha case. Inside is a young girl with hand- painted cheeks and collar leaning on a very colorful table. The ambrotype and other internal parts are in fair condition. . When opened correctly the image is on the right side and the identifying remarks on the opposite side are upside down and would have to be turned to read. The cloth border around the photo is torn and loose and the picture can be lifted out of the case easily. In that case the border cloth would come apart. If opened improperly, as in opening from the back, the ambro would fall out. Please see photos as part of the description. Valuable information to be read is shown in the photos. Front cover is third photo and back cover is 6th photo. 3 9/16" x 3 1/4".
