Antique 1857 1/9 Plate Ambrotype Abby Sylvester Gold Jewelery Choker Full Case

Description

Antique 19th century, 1857, identified ninth plate ambrotype photograph.  Depicts a portrait of a young Abby Sylvester taken when she was 11 years old in 1857.  A handsome and clean image showing the girl sitting in a wood chair with her arms crossed.  She is wearing a gold choker, brooch and two gold rings all of which are hand colored, her cheeks are tinted pink.  Protected behind glass under a brass mat and preserver and housed in a full leather case with ornate decoration and red velvet interior pillow.  Period pencil inscription inside case reads
Abby Y. Sylvester, taken in 1857, when I was eleven years of age
.  Accompanied with a modern handwritten ink inscription of what is written in the case.
In Good overall condition.  Ambro is clean and bright.  Case is clean but split at the hinge in two.  Displays handsomely.
Measures 2” x 2 1/2”.  Case measures 3” x 2 1/2” x 3/4” thick.
