    Description

    Ambrotype civil war photo of Colonel Michael Corcoran, 69th New York Volunteer Infantry, in full uniform. The heavily-darkened image profiles Corcoran in full view, taken at Mathew Brady's studio. Image measures 5" x 7" on a very dark sheet of glass that produces an image somewhat difficult to see. Minor loss of emulsion throughout the image does not detract from the subject. Edges of glass beveled and slightly jagged, otherwise a compelling portrait in good condition.
