Description
Flower color and maybe variety name may differ from photo. For example, there are 3 zinnia on front, but the name may be Burpee or Blaze.Five colorful flower seed packets from Antoine Seed Company in Independence and Blue Springs Missouri, from about 1950. Most packets are priced for a dime each.
The seed packets are Larkspur, Marigold, Petunia, Salvia and Zinnia.
Directions for sowing and growing are on the back of each packet. There are no seeds in any of the packets.
Some of the family members are still alive and have stated to seller that the company was briefly in Blue Springs in the late 1940s and very early 1950s. Some of the packets have only Independence as the location. They had a store in Independence from the 1920s or thereabouts until the very early 2000s.
The packets are all unused and measure approximately 3.25 by 5 inches unsealed. There is still a very small amount of stickum or glue on the unfolded flap which measures approximately .5 inches.
These packets can be framed individually, together or a group of them can be used as a border around a sunroom or a kitchen or used for extra color in a sunroom or bedroom. They have been used as invitations.
All are art work covers and all of them date back to the 1950s and very late 1940s. The printing company is Stecher-Traung in Rochester NY.
Seller believes these are among the last of this style (original art) and that very soon the printers began using standard photos rather than drawings.
My photographs are for illustration purposes and do represent the packets which will be sent to you, but the packets in the photograph are not the ones to be mailed out. The ones which will be mailed are of equal quality as the ones in the photograph.
Please look at the condition statements carefully and look at the photos carefully and also at my other listings of individual seed packets. Will combine multiple purchases.
We ship them as non-machineable.
Also please be aware that post office is slow in delivery.
