WALT DISNEY DAVY CROCKETT WALLET
Offered is an original Walt Disney, ca. mid 1950's, Davy Crockett wallet, about 4.25 X 3.25 inches. item opens to 8.75 inches. Wallet is brown vinyl plastic with Davy's profile wearing his coonskin cap that is made of faux fur. Condition is good only with some cracking to the edges and loss of small section of the wallet edges. Coonskin cap shows wear of loss of some of the "plush" of the original state of the cap. Inside of the change purse has the typical wear on the snap top and bottom snap catch - slightly lose yet still attached. Fess Parker's face has slight wear to cheek. and slight wear on the reverse Native American Indian teepee tent. Patient pending stamp on the rear may indicate this is an early wallet.
Disney's Davy Crockett is a five-part serial which aired in 1954-1955 on ABC in one-hour episodes on the Disneyland series. The series stars Fess Parker as real-life frontiersman Davy Crockett and Buddy Ebsen as his friend, George Russel.
The first three episodes of the serial were edited together as the 1955 theatrical film Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier, and rebroadcast in color in the 1960s when the Disney program went to NBC. This series and film are known for the catchy theme song, "The Ballad of Davy Crockett". It was filmed in color at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park at the Mountain Farm Museum adjacent to the visitor center at Oconaluftee near Qualla Reservation's entrance and Janss Conejo Ranch, California.
The final two episodes were edited together as the 1956 theatrical film Davy Crockett and the River Pirates. It was filmed in Cave-In-Rock, Illinois.
