You are bidding on a 1912-S Liberty Nickel. The Liberty Nickel was officially minted from 1883 through 1912, and only had mint marks in 1912. The 1912-S is the lowest mintage coin of the series by far, with only 238,000 minted. It is extremely challenging to find one of these coins in collectible condition. Look closely the the coin in the photograph as it is the coin you will receive. We estimate this coin would grade at Fine or Very Fine condition. This coin belongs in your collection!
From PCGS CoinFacts: "In 1883, the Liberty Nickel was introduced. The earliest versions were produced without the words “Five Cents” on the reverse. Enterprising individuals took advantage of this omission by gold-plating the coins, reeding the edges, and passing the coins off as some new Half Eagle. The Mint quickly remedied the situation by adding “Five Cents” to the back of the coin later in 1883. Key dates in the “Liberty Nickel” series include the 1885, 1886, and 1912-S. A mere five 1913 Liberty Nickels are known, but these are believed to have been produced clandestinely at the Mint."
