    Description

1/9 PLATE AMBROTYPE - HANDSOME "FRATERNAL ORDER" GENTLEMAN - ODD FELLOWS - IN FULL CASE
    -
Although I am not 100% sure of the fraternal order this handsome young gentleman was a member, there is no doubt his vestments indicate he belonged to some type of fraternal organization. The first thing I would like to point out is the fact that you hardly ever see a blonde or redheaded person in the 19th Century captured on a hard plate. He is of fairer complexion that most you will find. He proudly sat with his vest and apron against a dark background which is created an interesting composition in my opinion. Superb sharpness is captured on this ninth plate portrait.
He is presented in a full case. Images of these early members of fraternal orders are highly collectable and this one is definitely above average you will find here on Ebay. Good luck to my winning bidder. I am sure you will be pleased with your purchase.

Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition of the image and as part of my description. The ninth plate contains wonderful contrast, tonalities and exquisite sharpness. Hand tinting was applied to his face. The full case has a nicely restored leather hinge, the single working clasp and a red velvet pillow sits next to his fine portrait. I will ship this item to the winning bidder carefully packaged by Priority Mail.
